ICAO acknowledges Dominican Republic for airport security

Santo Domingo.- The Dominican Republic has been acknowledged for its efforts in enhancing aviation safety within the North American, Central American, and Caribbean (NACC) region.

The International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) has commended the country’s unwavering commitment and dedication for the eleventh consecutive year, particularly emphasizing its pivotal role in assisting Member States in operational safety matters.

Pilot Brigadier General Floreal Suárez Martínez, FARD, accepted the award on behalf of the Specialized Corps for Airport Security and Civil Aviation (CESAC), where he serves as the general director. Under his leadership, CESAC has spearheaded initiatives aimed at promoting world-class safety standards in the region, significantly bolstering confidence and effectiveness within the civil aviation sector in the NACC.

“This recognition not only celebrates the Dominican Republic’s achievements in airport security and civil aviation but also underscores the country’s pledge to serve as a dependable and proactive partner in advocating for safe and sustainable practices in regional civil aviation,” the statement reads.

CESAC’s participation in such endeavors aligns with the achievement of Sustainable Development Goals, including SDG 8: “Decent work and economic growth,” SDG 9: “Industry, innovation, and infrastructure,” SDG 16: “Peace, justice, and strong institutions,” and SDG 17: “Partnerships for the goals.”
