DGII records RD$94,760 million collection in April

Santo Domingo.- The General Directorate of Internal Taxes (DGII) announced a record-breaking collection for April, totaling RD$94,760.7 million. This surge was propelled by favorable economic factors, including an uptick in the number of salaried workers and increased activity in the hospitality sector encompassing hotels, bars, and restaurants.

April witnessed the highest year-on-year growth in collections, with a notable 23.3% positive variation compared to 2023, amounting to an additional RD$17,280.5 million compared to the same period last year, excluding extraordinary income.

Tax compliance among taxpayers stood at an impressive 100.2%, surpassing the General State Budget estimate for 2024 by RD$220.2 million.

The DGII accounted for 81.2% of the State’s tax revenue, maintaining a remarkable streak of collection surpassing estimates for 44 consecutive months.

For the January-April 2024 period, accumulated collections reached RD$302,398.5 million, marking a robust growth of 19.3% compared to the same period in 2023, with an excess of RD$8,635.3 million over the initial estimate.

Key taxes experienced significant growth, with normal payments of the Corporate Income and Asset Tax increasing by 35.5%, amounting to RD$5,772.0 million more than April 2023. The total collection for this tax reached RD$37,175 million, notably boosted by the deadline for taxpayers with a fiscal year ending in December 2023.

Personal Income Tax saw growth propelled by an increase in the number of employees, contributing RD$1,303.7 million more than in 2023, totaling RD$10,823.6 million.

The ITBIS (Value Added Tax) exhibited growth in both total and taxed operations, with a 5.3% increase for the March fiscal period paid in April. Notably, sectors such as hotels, bars, restaurants, retail, and other services displayed positive momentum in their taxed sales. The total collection of ITBIS for this period amounted to RD$18,373.1 million, reflecting a variation of RD$2,432.5 million compared to 2023.
