Rains continue throughout the weekend

Santo Domingo – The National Meteorological Office (Onamet) forecasts downpours, thunderstorms, and wind gusts for the whole weekend due to the effects of the trough on the country.

The agency reported that from the afternoon and early evening hours of today, rains will be frequent in the provinces of La Altagracia, El Seibo, San Pedro de Macoris, Monte Plata, Sanchez Ramirez, La Vega, San Jose de Ocoa, Monseñor Nouel, Santiago, Santiago Rodriguez, Dajabon, Elias Piña, San Juan, Azua and Pedernales, Santo Domingo and the National District.

Greater Santo Domingo will have minimum temperatures of 20 °C and 23 °C and maximum at 29 °C and 31 °C.

Alert continues in 26 provinces.
Due to the rains that will occur in the next 24 to 72 hours, the Emergency Operations Center (COE) maintains 26 provinces on alert for possible flooding of rivers, streams, and creeks, flash floods, and landslides.

In this regard, Montecristi, Valverde, Puerto Plata, Santiago, La Vega, Espaillat, Hermanas Mirabal, Monseñor Nouel, and Duarte provinces are on yellow alert.

Also Sanchez Ramirez, Maria Trinidad Sanchez, Samana, Monte Plata, Hato Mayor, El Seibo, La Altagracia, Santo Domingo and the National District.

Meanwhile, the COE placed Dajabón, Santiago Rodríguez, Elías Piña, San Juan, San José de Ocoa, San Cristóbal, San Pedro de Macorís and La Romana on green alert.
